Mr Major’s Written Question on Tree Preservation Orders – 30 March 1981
Below is the text of Mr Major’s Parliamentary written question on Tree Preservation Orders, published on 30th March 1981.
Mr. Major Asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will consider amending planning legislation to require planning authorities to consult other interested local authorities before establishing or rescinding tree preservation orders.
Mr. Giles Shaw No. The present arrangements are based on the recommendations of a joint working party of the Associations of County and District Councils. They have been in operation for a short time and it is therefore premature to contemplate any changes.
