Mr. Anthony Coombs To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what has been the growth of economic output over the latest 12 months period for which figures are available.

Mr. Major Preliminary estimates show that the output-based measure of gross domestic product increased by 4½ per cent. between the first quarter of 1987 and the first quarter of 1988.
