Mr Major’s Comments en Route from Riyadh to London – 29 January 1993
Below is the text of Mr Major’s comments en route from Riyadh to London on Friday 29th January 1993.
QUESTION:
Prime Minister, you have been concentrating obviously very much on foreign affairs throughout most of this month and particularly on this trip. Are you now determined to get back and concentrate on the domestic political agenda?
PRIME MINISTER:
I have not left the domestic political agenda. Visits abroad that provide export provide jobs at home. Visits abroad that provide jobs promote British business. That is the export agenda. That is the way we will build prosperity in the 1990s. It cannot be done by sitting at home in Downing Street waiting for other people to come to you. It is necessary also to get up and go to them and tell them what is best in Britain and sell it for Britain.
