Mr Major’s Comments on the Resignation of Douglas Hurd – 23 June 1995
Below is the text of Mr Major’s comments on the resignation of the Foreign Secretary, Douglas Hurd, made in Huntingdon on 23rd June 1995.
PRIME MINISTER:
Douglas has been a member of the Government now for a very long time, he’s been a member of the Cabinet for six years. He’s made a remarkable contribution, both to the Cabinet and to the country, and I have not a shred of doubt, that whether one agrees with everything he does and even those who don’t, no-one can deny he has been one of the greatest Foreign Secretaries we’ve had this century.
