PRIME MINISTER:

 

Engagements

Mr. Harry Greenway: To ask the Prime Minister if he will list his official engagements for Tuesday 28 November 1995.

The Prime Minister: This morning, I presided at a meeting of the Cabinet and had meetings with ministerial colleagues and others. In addition to my duties in the House, I shall be having further meetings later today.

 

Lockerbie

Mr. Dalyell: To ask the Prime Minister if he will discuss with the UN Security Council the offer by the Government of Libya of a trial in The Hague of two Libyan suspects accused of the destruction of Pan Am 103.

The Prime Minister: At its 11th review of sanctions against Libya, held on 22 November, the UK’s permanent representative reminded the Security Council that proposals for the trial of the Lockerbie suspects in The Hague or elsewhere were unacceptable alternatives to trial in Scotland or the United States.

 

Disabled People (Policies)

Ms Lynne: To ask the Prime Minister which minister has the overall responsibility for co-ordinating policies in relation to access to the built environment for people with disabilities throughout all Government Departments; and if he will make a statement.

The Prime Minister: My hon. Friend the Minister of State for Social Security and Disabled People is the focal point for issues affecting disabled people.

 

Ministerial Visits

Mr. MacShane: To ask the Prime Minister what plans he has to visit the Czech Republic in the next 12 months.

The Prime Minister: I look forward to having the opportunity to visit the Czech Republic, but as yet have no firm plans.

 

Cyprus

Mr. Cox: To ask the Prime Minister when he last met President Clerides of Cyprus; and what issues on Cyprus were discussed.

The Prime Minister: I have met President Clerides on several occasions in recent months. We had a substantive discussion at No. 10 this year, addressing the range of issues affecting the UK and Cyprus.

We met again at the VE day commemoration in May, at the Cannes European Council in June, and again at the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting earlier this month.
