Parliamentary Delegations (Europe)

 

Mrs. Peacock: To ask the Prime Minister if he has nominated a new leader of the United Kingdom delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the Assembly of Western European Union.

 

The Prime Minister: Following the sudden death earlier this month of Lord Finsberg, who served with great distinction as leader of the United Kingdom delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the Assembly of the Western European Union from 1987, I have today appointed the hon. Member for Reading, West (Sir A. Durant) as the new leader of the delegation.
