Mr. Strang To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his latest estimate of the level of investment by United Kingdom manufacturing industry in 1987-88.

Mr. Major Investment by manufacturing industry (including leased assets) in 1987-88 was £7,595 million at 1980 prices.
