Mr Major’s Comments on the Bio-Diversity Agreement – 7 June 1992
Below is the text of Mr Major’s comments on the bio-diversity agreement, made in the United States on 7th June 1992.
[The Prime Minister was asked whether he has persuaded President Bush to sign the Bio-Diversity Agreement on behalf of the United States of America].
PRIME MINISTER:
We have problems with the bio-diversity convention as well as the United States. We have problems with some of the financial proposals and some of the other allied projects as well.
I think we will probably be able to solve them, but the difficulties that we instinctively see with them are a great deal less than those the United States sees.
