  • Mr Major’s Letter to The Times on his Huntingdon Successor – 9 June 2000

Below is the text of Mr Major’s letter to The Times, written on 8th June 2000 and published on 9th June 2000.

    JOHN MAJOR:

    Sir,

You reported last week (June 2) that I was seeking to influence the Huntingdon selectorate in their choice of a new candidate.

I would like to say that this is totally untrue. The selection is entirely in the hands of my constituency party and I have played no part in it.

    Yours faithfully,

    JOHN MAJOR,

    House of Commons.
