Mr. McLeish To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will estimate the net flows of foreign investment into the United Kingdom in the form of (a) long-term direct investment and (b) short-term banking flows.

Mr. Cox To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will estimate the net flows of foreign investment into the United Kingdom in the form of (a) long-term direct investment and (b) short-term banking flows.

Mr. Major The most recent information on flows of direct investment and banking inflows into the United Kingdom has been published by the CSO in the March edition of Economic Trends. However, it is not possible to distinguish between long-term and short-term flows.
