PRIME MINISTER:
The Gulf
Mr. Cohen : To ask the Prime Minister what consideration Her Majesty’s Government gives to public opinion on the Gulf war; and how Her Majesty’s Government-imposed reporting restrictions relate to this.
The Prime Minister : Support from the British public remains very strong for the actions being taken by the allies to liberate Kuwait in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions. The Government’s policy is to allow all reasonable freedom and access for reporting, subject only to constraints essential to protect the safety of coalition forces and the security of allied operations.
Mr. Marlow : To ask the Prime Minister what is his intention with regard to the award of a Gulf campaign medal.
The Prime Minister : The question of an appropriate medal for those serving in the Gulf is under consideration.
