The text of Sir John Major’s statement on the Margaret Thatcher Scholarship Trust on 20 May 2013.

SIR JOHN MAJOR:

The Margaret Thatcher Scholarship Trust is a fitting and lasting legacy to the longest serving British Prime Minister in the last 100 years, and I am delighted to be a Patron.

Education was something about which Margaret cared deeply, and her years at Somerville always held a special place in her heart. It will therefore be wonderful to play a part in identifying and nurturing future generations of leaders, all of whom will have been granted Scholarships in her name.
