Mr. Eastham Asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what net savings will result in the financial years 1986-87 and 1987-88 from the implementation of the Social Security Act 1986.
Mr. Major The effect of implementing the Social Security Act 1986 will be to increase benefit expenditure slightly in 1986-87 and to save some £75 million in benefit expenditure in 1987-88.
