Mr Major’s Comments on the Wilmslow Bomb – 26 March 1997
Below is the text of Mr Major’s comments on the bombs planted at Wilmslow, made on 26th March 1997.
PRIME MINISTER:
We’re at the beginning of a General Election campaign and this looks like a two-fingered insult to democracy. Right the way across Northern Ireland, Sinn Fein are standing as candidates in nearly every constituency. I hope that without any delay at all, Mr Adams, Mr McGuinness and the other Sinn Fein candidates will condemn without reservation this outrage this morning.
