Mr. Greg Knight To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give his latest estimate of the growth of manufacturing productivity over the latest three-months period for which figures are available.

Mr. Major In the three months to August 1988, output per head in manufacturing was 7.5 per cent. higher than the same period a year earlier.
