Below is the text of Mr Major’s written Parliamentary Answer on the National Insurance Fund on 15th November 1988.


Mr. Austin Mitchell To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his estimate of (a) the likely increase in the income of the national insurance fund and reduction in expenditure as a result of a reduction in unemployment to the 1973 level and (b) the increase in other public revenues and reduction in public expenditure nationally and locally from both the reduction in unemployment and the increase in employment.
