Mr. Nicholas Bennett To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give his latest estimate for net disposal income after mortgage payments in each region of the United Kingdom.

Mr. Major [holding answer 5 May 1989]: The most recently available figures are for 1986: these were given in my reply to my hon. Friend on 1 March 1988 at column 503. It is expected that the estimates for 1987 will he available in July.
