Mr Major’s Written Question on Vacant Dwellings (London) – 28 January 1982

Below is the text of Mr Major’s Parliamentary written question on Vacant Dwellings (London), published on 28th January 1982.

Mr. Major Asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether the figure announced by the Under-Secretary of State for the Environment to the House on 20 January, Official Report, c. 278, in response to a supplementary question from the hon. Member for Huntingdonshire about the number of vacant local authority dwellings in London, referred to the total for all local authorities or only to that for those authorities with more than 3 per cent. of their stock empty.

Sir George Young The figure of 32,814, to which my hon. Friend refers, relates to the total number of vacant local authority dwellings at 1 April 1981 in those London authorities which have more than 3 per cent. of their stock empty. The number of local authority dwellings empty in the whole of London at 1 April 1981 was 38,439.
